Joseph A. Doyel, son of Thomas and Mary Ann Doyel was born April 28, 1848 in Montgomery County, Indiana. He was united in marriage to Mary Frances Gott May 30, 1873. To this union there were born two children, Lillie and Charles who are here to mourn the loss of their father. He united with the Baptist Church at Browns Valley in the spring of 1875 and was baptized by Rev. JM Kendall. Some 15 years ago he was stricken with the fell destroyer, cancer. Since that time all that science and medical skill and good nursing could do to arrest the progress of the disease was done, but death had marked him for his victim and the 25th inst at 3:45 p.m. he fell asleep in Jesus - blessed sleep from which none ever wake, being at the time 60 years 2 months 27 days old. In the death of Joseph Doyel the community has lost one of her best citizens. He was a man of sterling qualities and ever found on the side of right. His daily walk and his godly concentration bespoke for him that his standard of religious integrity was of a high order. He was a kind and loving husband and father, and will be sadly missed in the home. He died in the triumphs of a living faith and has gone home to be with God. He rests from his labors and his works follow after and while we sorrow it is not without hope. Funeral services at the home, conducted by Rev. Mayhall. Interment in Russellville cemetery.
